Plug Power to supply GenEco electrolysers to Carlton Power’s Langage green hydrogen project
With our partner, Schroders Greencoat LLP, we have selected Plug Power to supply its GenEco PEM electrolysers for our Langage Green Hydrogen project in Devon. The contract award to Plug Power is subject to a Final Investment Decision for the project, which we expect to make in the first quarter of 2026.
Plug Power Inc. is a global leader in comprehensive hydrogen solutions for the hydrogen economy and will enter an equipment supply and long-term service agreement (LTSA) for Trafford and two other green hydrogen projects.
The Langage project, on the outskirts of Plymouth, will feature two 5MW Plug Power GenEco Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolysers using renewable electricity to generate hydrogen for a variety of local end users — including local industry, heavy transport operators, and municipal fleets. The scheme is expected to begin operations in 2027/2028.
Eric Adams, Hydrogen Director at Carlton Power said: “This collaboration with Plug Power is a cornerstone of our strategy to deliver reliable, renewable power for UK manufacturers. Partnering with Plug Power ensures we’re combining proven technology with long-term investment and operational expertise. We're developing projects at Barrow and elsewhere in the UK that set a new standard for scale, performance, and sustainability in green hydrogen production, and furthering the UK’s industrial decarbonization.”
